7 Working from Home Essentials
Much has been demanded of us during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is not over yet. While you are working from home in whatever capacity you find yourself, here are some essentials that have helped me tremendously. You can click the picture and links for easy shopping. 1. Ergonomic work space
We purchased this chair in June of 2014. It has some normal wear to the seat, and I was ready to toss it but first did a quick Amazon search. This chair is now new again with this seat cover! I like that this computer monitor has an adjustable height and tilt and is larger than my laptop screen. My table really can be any makeshift furniture I happen to have available because of my adjustable arms and height chair and adjustable monitor that keep me in proper alignment.
Clinical Pearl: When sitting at your work space you should be able to comfortably sit and type with your feet flat on the floor, hands and forearms at heart level, and a neutral neck with your monitor at eye level.
2. Adequate lighting
Most of the day I am able to utilize natural light, but for my early morning starts as the days become shorter, I have been using my standing lamp that is within arms reach.
3. Loungewear
Super soft and comfy loungewear with pockets!?! Say no more.
4. House shoes
House shoes with arch support especially if you do not wear outside shoes in your home is so helpful for your back as you move around your home. These slippers do make my toes look longer, but they have good support and do not shed.
5. Headscarf
I wear these scarves so much that I created a tutorial on my Instagram after being asked a few times to share how I make them look so cute. The key is to buy a large scarf then head over to busiakin on Instagram and watch the #BusiBow highlight.
6. Tumbler
It is so important to stay hydrated throughout the day. This is the most basic self care that you need. I am a fan of Corkcicle because they keep my water as cold as it is when I first fill up for the day. They claim to keep beverages cold for 25 hr and hot for 12 hr. I only use mine for water, but I can attest to it staying cold all day.
7. Blue light glasses or screen protector
I have not been consistent with my hard stop time on using my phone or laptop before bed. Blue light is associated with disrupting sleep onset, so protecting my eyes from the blue light of the screens I use daily was an easy yes for me.
Keep an eye out for a follow-up review. I have been eyeing a few (maybe 3 or 10) shops to purchase some more loungewear as I see myself only wanting to wear cozy and comfy clothes at home with the cooler weather rolling in.
